The Club’s goal is to provide diverse
activities that meet the interests of all youth, which enable them to
develop self-esteem and reach their full potential. The Club offers
program activities in five areas:
Character & Leadership Development – Programs in this core area
empower youth to support and influence
their Club and community, sustain meaningful relationships with others,
develop a positive self-image, participate in the democratic process and
respect their own and others’ cultural identities.
KEYSTONE -
The Keystone Club is a teen leadership program designed to promote
character and leadership among teen Club members to provide impact in
three focus areas: Career Preparation , Community Service, and Academic

TORCH CLUB -
Torch Clubs are chartered small-group
leadership and service clubs for boys and girls. Designed to instill
qualities of tolerance, civic responsibility, community involvement and
leadership that promote an appreciation for the responsibilities of
citizenship and the democratic process in adolescent members. Members

YOUTH OF THE YEAR
- is a recognition program which allows
youth members to compete monthly at each site for the Youth of the
Month recognition. Ultimately, one youth member will have the
opportunity to compete at the county level, and if selected could go on
to complete at the highest level and win a full college scholarship and
the opportunity to meet the President of the United States. Members

The Arts -
Programs in this core area enable youth to develop their creativity and
cultural awareness through knowledge and appreciation of the visual
arts, crafts, performing arts and creative writing.
NATIONAL FINE ARTS EXHIBIT
- is designed to enable members to develop their creativity and
cultural awareness through visual arts. The exhibit has ten categories
including monochromatic drawing, multicolored drawing, pastel,
watercolor, oil/acrylic, print making, mixed media, collage, sculpture
and group project. This program also gives Clubs the ability to
showcase the artwork of their Club members in the community. Members

CLAY TECH -
is a fun, hands-on introduction to clay animation that anyone can do.
Over the course of eight tasks, members will work in groups to create
storyboards, build characters, film and edit their own movies. Members
ages 13-18.

Education & Career Development
- Programs in this core area enable
youth to become proficient in basic educational disciplines apply
learning to everyday situations and embrace technology to achieve
success in a career.
POWER HOUR -
is a program designed to help young
people develop academic, behavioral and social skills through homework

CAREER LAUNCH -
is a fun and exciting program that
prepares teens for the working world. Club teens 13-18 years old embark
on a journey to explore careers, make sound educational decisions and

MONEY MATTERS
- promotes financial responsibility among teens by building their basic
money management skills. The program helps youth members gain useful
knowledge and skills on various aspects of financial literacy, including
budgeting, saving & investing, credit & debt, entrepreneurship

COLLEGE BOUND
- was developed by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Los Angeles Harbor
and have selected to share their program materials with Clubs who have
committed to their program. We now have access to all of the teaching
tools provide via the College Bound Website. Teen participants must
participate in weekly workshops and tutorials to help ensure they meet
academic, financial, and testing requirements for UC, Cal State, and
private universities. Members ages 14-18.
CLUB TECH -
is a program designed to teach members technical skills and integrate
technology into core program areas. Each program emphasizes the safe,
ethical use of technology and explores high-tech career options.

Health & Life Skills
- Programs in this core area develop
young people’s capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture
their own well-being, set personal goals and live successfully as
self-sufficient adults.
SMART MOVES
- is a comprehensive prevention program that helps young people resist
alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and avoid premature sexual activity.
The program features activities designed to increase participants’ peer
support, enhance life skills, build resiliency and strengthen leadership

SMART GIRLS
- The SMART (Skills Mastery and Resistance Training) Girls program is a
health, fitness, prevention/education and self-esteem enhancement
program for girls. The program is designed to encourage healthy
attitudes and lifestyles that will enable adolescent/teen girls to

PASSPORT TO MANHOOD -
Passport to Manhood is a program that
concentrates on specific aspects of manhood through highly interactive
activities. Each youth member participant is issued his own "passport”
to underscore his personal journey of maturation and growth. Members

Sports, Fitness & Recreation
- Programs in this core area develop
fitness, positive use of leisure time, skills for stress management,
appreciation for the environment and social skills.
TRIPLE PLAY
- is designed to challenge members to become healthy and active by
learning new ways to eat nutritionally, manage stress, maintain physical
fitness and form positive relationships with peers. The Triple Play
comprehensive strategy nurtures the minds, bodies and souls of Club
