Adopt-a-Family at the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos

Each year, Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos hosts partners with generous businesses, families and community supporters to provide holiday gifts for Boys & Girls Club families in need. Join us for this year's Adopt-a-Family program to spread holiday cheer and make a meaningful difference for a Boys & Girls Club family!

Thanks to an incredible response from our community, all families in this year's Adopt-a-Family program have been paired!

If you'd still like to help spread holiday cheer, consider making a donation to support the program. Simply select the option to direct your gift to the Adopt-a-Family program and your donation will provide a Club youth with a special gift from their wishlist or a holiday meal or essential items for their family.

Other Ways to Help

Wrap gifts as a Volunteer Elf

Volunteer with us on Friday, Dec. 12 to wrap and label gifts for families to place under their tree. Basic gift-wrapping skills welcome, mastery not required! Visit our Gift Wrapping Volunteer Sign Up Form to view shifts and sign up.

Donate Gift Wrapping Supplies

Spread some holiday magic by donating supplies to wrap Adopt-a-Family gifts–every roll of wrapping paper, tape, bows, or tags helps bring a smile to a child's face! Click here to see our gift wrap wishlist.

Host a Toy Drive

Collect new, unwrapped toys at your next party, networking event or book club gathering and drop them off by Friday, Dec. 12 for our Boys & Girls Club Santa to pass out to youth! Simply establish a drop-off location and promote the opportunity to friends, family or coworkers. If you're hosting a toy drive, we'd love to connect with you! Contact us at events@boysgirlsclubsm.org if you'd like some tips and best practices on running a drive.

How it Works

October

  • Boys & Girls Club members and their families are nominated to be part of the Adopt-a-Family program by Boys & Girls Club staff.

November

  • Generous donors team up with family, friends, neighbors or coworkers to brighten a family's holidays.
  • Donors are contacted beginning the first week of November with holiday wishlists from their matched family.
  • Each donor will receive:
  • (1) wishlist per child in the family including first names, ages, children's clothing sizes, and gift ideas
  • (1) family wishlist with items that would benefit the entire family (i.e. household appliances, family items, etc.)
  • While there's no minimum requirement, the average dollar amount spent on wishlist items is approximately $100-$150+ per person in the family.

December

  • Donors may schedule a time to drop off gifts or are invited to join us for the Adopt-a-Family Gift Wrapping Party on Friday, Dec. 12 at our Jennifer Loscher Branch Clubhouse (1 Positive Place, San Marcos, CA 92069).
  • Donors may wrap their gifts and drop them off OR bring unwrapped gifts to the celebration (with a list/individually labeled items to indicate each intended recipient) and our volunteer elves will take care of wrapping them!
  • BGCSM staff arrange for families to receive their gifts and take home to put under their family's tree!
  • The holidays become a more cheerful time of year for all!
