Evelynn is seventeen years old and a senior at San Marcos High School. She currently attends the Club's Teen Center and has been a youth member at the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos for ten years! She is involved in Keystone, our teen leadership program, and credits the Club for helping her grow out of her shell and develop leadership skills.
Evelynn's future includes attending law school to become a successful lawyer, as she aspires to become a district attorney some day.
"Being at the Club has taught me to stand up in what I believe in as well as stay true to who I am despite what others think...the Boys & Girls Club isn't just a place where 'Great Futures Start Here,' it's my second home." Evelynn will be moving on to compete for the San Diego County Youth of the Year title in the coming months.
Middle School Youth of the Year: Mikaela
Miki is an eighth grade student at San Marcos Middle School and has been a member of the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos since 2009. She is involved in the Club's dance team and says it has helped her gain confidence and discover her passions for dance and the visual arts.
"There are many ways that the Boys & Girls Club has helped me and positively changed my life. If I could describe the Club in one word it would be 'opportunities.'"
Elementary School Youth of the Year: Alehida
Alehida is 10 years old and attends our after school program at San Marcos Elementary School. She is president of her site's Torch Club, our leadership and service program, and attributes her love for science and the arts to exploring programs at the Club.
"The Boys & Girls Club has impacted my life throughout the I've years that I have been here. This inspiring and positive place has helped prepare me to be able to set my goals for my future."
