Education & Career Development

Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos hosts a wide range of programs with a focus on Education & Career Development with the ultimate goal to ensure that every member graduates from high school on time and with a plan for their future. Programs in this area aim to help youth members become proficient in basic educational disciplines, apply learning to everyday situations, and embrace technology to achieve success in a career.

Power Hour is a program for members of all ages designed to help young people develop academic, behavioral, and social skills through a daily hour focused on academic achievement, when members can complete homework and receive tutoring and assistance from our trained Youth Development Professionals at the Club.

Clubhouse-to-College/Career provides Club members with the opportunities to take an active role in planning their future. Hosted in partnership with The Clubhouse Network at our Best Buy Teen Tech Center powered by Sony, teen participants ages 13-18 leverage their technology skills to prepare for college and/or future careers. Members participate in weekly workshops and ongoing projects to help build an arsenal of skills while engaging with experienced professionals in the fields they are interested in.

Career Launch is a fun and exciting program that prepares teens for the working world. Club teens ages 13-18 years old embark on a journey to explore careers, make sound educational decisions, and find success in the world of work.
Money Matters promotes financial responsibility among teens by building their basic money management skills. The program helps young members gain useful knowledge and skills on various aspects of financial literacy, including budgeting, saving & investing, credit & debt, entrepreneurship and planning for college.
